What is Committee?

Each local area has a committee of adults who believes in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers and churches, including lots of moms and dads who care about kids.

The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life team.

Ask your area staff person for a local list, and feel free to call these folks with your questions at any time.

Committee

An Essential Foundation

Committee is the foundation for Young Life in a local area. Oftentimes, new Young Life clubs start because of the interest and awareness created by the committee. We also welcome the involvement of adult Young Life alumni, whose enthusiasm about their Young Life experiences is valuable to a committee.

How can I serve on Kansas City Urban Young Life Committee?

Serve on the Board of Directors (we call it our local Committee)

Each local area has its own committee of adults that believes in the mission of Young Life. You’ll find doctors, lawyers, teachers, pastors, butchers, bakers and candlestick makers on committees — and lots of moms and dads who care about kids.

Almost 15,000 adults serve on Young Life committees across the country.   Members of a Young Life committee are adults who are committed to providing every kid in their community the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ in terms they can understand. Committee members pray for Young Life, promote the ministry in the community, care for the local staff and volunteer leaders, as well as ensure the financial health of the ministry.

In Kansas City Urban, there are 10-15 adults who meet quarterly to pray for the mission and make plans to raise the funds for operating and campership budgets.

Please contact the Young Life Urban Kansas City office if you have questions about becoming a member of our local committee.   Contact Cathy Garcia-Johnson 816-471-1177l.

Become a Financial Donor

Financial gifts are essential to Young Life Kansas City Urban Area because the  staff are responsible for raising 100 percent of their budgets, which mainly include camp scholarship for kids, staff salaries, administrative costs and programming costs.

As a donor to Young Life you can specify how you want your money to be used —program expenses, funding a yearly event, sending a teenager to camp (campership), providing and helping the financial costs of providing transportation for kids, etc.  Or you can allow the area staff to use the money where they see the greatest need.

Young Life only exists in the communities who financially make the ministry possible.  Without local donors, Young Life would not be in the Kansas City, Missouri community.

There is a link on this website if you would like to be a donor.  You can become a monthly supporter by following the link.

Young Life is a non-profit 501c3 organization.  All gifts of $25 or more will be receipted by the headquaters in Colorado Springs.

Please contact the Young Life Urban Kansas City office if you have questions about supporting our mission.   Contact Leonard Davis at 816-471-1177.
